Two family heirlooms inspire difficult questions of identity and belonging. What do we bring with us from the past? What gets left behind?
Sarah Sanders leads the audience through a ritual of grieving and reconnection, in search of the right answers.
For Ashkenazi Seance, we created a performance space laid out according to ancient esoteric diagrams meant to tap into the essential power of the universe.
A series of rituals built around a length of soft cotton rope allowed Sarah and the audience to manifest and embody their presence and attention as the story is woven and the seance unspooled.
